It’s with a great deal of pleasure that we announce Telstra’s planned upgrade of our 4G base station at Winton. Work is already underway for the upgrade to the base station to be completed ahead of the Way Out West Festival and the opening of the Waltzing Matilda Centre on Friday 20 April 2018. Telstra is proud of its ability and commitment to expand our network, and we know how important mobile coverage is to people living and working in regional communities. As the technology partner to the upcoming events, our discussions have been based around a short term deployment of a 4G Cell on Wheels, however this permanent upgrade of the base station will triple the normal capacity of the 4G coverage for the Winton community and visitors to the area. The upgrade will deliver connectivity to stay in touch with friends, family and the world.
The Telstra team is excited to be part of such an important community undertaking and we look forward to being there to deliver the Telstra sponsored luncheon and witnessing the opening of such an iconic Australian landmark.
